Legacy

Hi, this page has important things and accomplishments that I would like to be remembered for. And, it may have info about charities, scholarships, foundations, and accounts set up in my memory and for my legacy.

Mums legacy is mostly in her family and the love and ideals she fostered.  Ann, Beryl and John, all at one time working in the health and caring professions.  Ann still practices as a nurse and has been followed into the profession by Rachel (Johns daughter).  We are an extremely close family and this is truly mums legacy.

Mum supported one very special charity, that being the National Lifeboats.  We were always a little puzzled by mums choice.  She had certainly never lived near the sea and had never really shown any particular interest in it.  Despite this, she showed great interest in the lifeboats and supported them for most of her life.

Other charities mum favoured were through association.  Mum enjoyed buying her clothes from charity shops.  She was never more proud than when showing off a coat she’s bought for £2 for example.  We children often despaired at mum when she had bought such an example, but we always respected her wishes.  Mum would never have anything to do with Oxfam however, as she always thought that their hierarchy was top heavy and the cost of administration detracted from the money actually raised.  Mum also strongly believed in the old adage “Charity starts at home.”
